What is the 3rd Space?

The name borrows inspiration from an architectural term. With the 1st space being home, the 2nd our workplace, the 3rd space in our lives is reserved for play & creativity! The name also reflects the space of interaction that is formed between a piece of art and it's viewer.

We are a non-profit organization located at 132 West Main St in Monterey, VA. Dedicated to providing art education and support to the community, the organization aims to provide a wide range of services including classes, workshops, equipment & supplies, and studio space for rent, making art accessible to all and creating a space for artistic expression and learning.

Renovations are underway on the 2nd Floor! We are creating an open space for classes, as well as intimate spaces for individual projects. Stay tuned for a variety of offerings & studio rental opportunities.
